Basketball Workouts

Layup & Jumpshots Chair Drill

Basically you need three chairs and three basketballs for this drill...If you only have one basketball that is fine too.

Notice how the chairs are set up...Top of the key Left and right wing...These are your driving lanes...This is not set in stone, but what i am saying is if once you get to these areas you have a perfect opportunity to drive or shoot a jump shot.

The idea here is to get game shots, from game spots, at game speed...

Let's break this drill down...

Step 1
You dribble at the first chair, use a dribble move up and back for a layup...This is the only lay up you will take. Get your rebound & dribble back with a dribble move back to the 1st chair.
Step 2
Sprint to the left or the right side of the second chair...Now go left strong side or weak side for a jump shot with a 1-2 finish. Follow your shot and dribble back out with a dribble move back to the 2nd chair.
Step 3
Sprint to the left or the right side of the third chair...Now go left strong side or weak side for a jump shot with a 1-2 finish. Follow your shot and dribble back out with a dribble move back to the 3rd chair.
Rinse & Repeat...Now you will only be shooting jump shots....See how many shots you can make in a minute..
Players if you are working around shooting set shots, This is how you should be working out

Let me stress to you again...The key to getting better is Practice AND during practice you must have game shots, at game speeds, and from game spots.....See you in the Back-Court
